Video text remover

Remove text from video, without blurring the frame

Text baked into a video is part of the image. You cannot switch it off with a subtitle track, and cropping it out usually ruins the composition. VideoTextRemove rebuilds the pixels underneath the letters instead, so the shot keeps its original framing and resolution.

Upload a clip, let the model find the text or mark it yourself, and download a clean file. Works on captions, titles, price tags, date stamps and channel handles — anything that was rendered into the picture.

Before — burned inAfter — reconstructed

Drag the handle — the caption band is rebuilt from neighbouring frames, not covered with a blur box.

How the removal actually works

The service detects text with a high-frame-rate OCR pass, builds a mask around each character, and then reconstructs the background across neighbouring frames. Because the repair uses motion information from adjacent frames, moving camera shots stay stable instead of flickering.

Two modes cover most footage: automatic detection for centred captions in the lower half of the frame, and manual area selection for anything else — a logo in the corner, a title in the upper third, a coloured banner that OCR would otherwise miss.

  • Automatic mode: white, horizontally centred captions in the bottom half of the frame
  • Manual mode: drag a box over any text, up to five areas per job
  • Output keeps the original resolution up to 1080p

What it is good for

The most common case is repurposing your own footage: a product video with last season’s price, a tutorial recorded with an old handle in the corner, a clip whose captions you want to replace with a different language.

It is also useful when the text is not a subtitle at all. Date stamps from a camera, a fixed label burned in by broadcast software, a lower-third that no longer matches the edit — all of it behaves the same way: it is just pixels that need replacing.

Frequently asked questions

Can I remove text from a video without blur or crop?+

Yes. The model generates replacement pixels for the masked area rather than applying a blur or scaling the frame. Results depend on the background: flat walls and simple textures reconstruct almost invisibly, while faces, foliage and fast motion may show artefacts you should check before publishing.

Does it work on moving text?+

Manual selection defines a fixed region rather than a motion-tracked mask, so text that stays in one place works best. For captions that change every few seconds but keep the same position, select the caption band once and the whole clip is processed.

What formats and sizes are supported?+

MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV up to 100 MB and 10 minutes per job. Input resolution up to 2K; output is capped at 1080p.

How long does processing take?+

Roughly 5 to 20 times the clip length depending on the mode. A 30-second clip usually finishes in a few minutes. You can close the tab — the job continues and appears in your dashboard.
